Team Feed
Our tournament schedule is up on Turney ap.
First game is 11:15. Hopefully I will have a 101Lax tent set up ~10:30. Parking will be a challenge. Definitely recommend carpooling.
Aim on being dressed and ready to play/warm up by 10:45. Weather forecast looks awesome. Laxcited. Coach Ed
Good Day Families,
We are excited about what 2023 will bring. It is going to be an amazing year. Below are some of the details of our upcoming year and the changes we are going to be making to ensure the best possible experience for each of our players. We look forward to growing in ‘23 together.
Summary of the Year
16 Academy Training Sessions
15+ Team Practices
5-7 Tournaments
Academy Training Sessions
These are high intensity sessions in which a player will get between 75 - 125 touches(Much more including warm-up). We will be teaching players individual skills which can be applied to any offense/defense while definitively working in the systems for our offense and defense. From these academy sessions, we can give players clear homework for the week, which might be wall ball, shooting, stretching, etc.
These sessions will be broken into 4 week blocks to give us consistent opportunities to work with players, but also schedule around coaches’ and player’s availability.
Team Practices
These practices are focused on developing team concepts like clears, rides, offense, and defense. These are where we will develop a player's lacrosse IQ. There will be small sided games as well as full field skills.
WHY?
USA Hockey and USA Soccer have done a lot of research into what ratio of games to practices are best for developing their players. Essentially, their studies indicate that the practice to game ratio should be at least 2:1, but something closer to 3:1 is a better number for 101 Lacrosse based on the ages and experience of our athletes. In travel, we struggle to achieve this as we will play 5 games in a tourney but practice only a few times before that. This change aligns us with the current information and recommendations from some of the leading sports organizations and puts kids in a better position to be successful.

Costs
Our costs will cover coaches, field rentals, tournament fees, etc. Our goal is not to price anyone out of lacrosse, but to be in line with what it takes to continue to build a program and invest in our children.
We’ve added a lot of value and will continue to be priced lower than the other clubs in Northern California. In many cases, significantly lower.
All of our options allow for payment plans and include a 10% discount for siblings. We offer Financial Aid for families who need it and have NEVER turned a player away as a result of cost.
Annual Membership
This is the option that provides the best training and value for everyone. It puts us all together for more time and gives our players the opportunity to really hone their skills. We will put the players through approximately 40-45 hours of lacrosse which we estimate translates to 4,000 - 5,000 touches and that doesn’t include games.
I wrote above about the need for more practice and getting close to a 3:1 practice to game ratio. This option is an investment in the development of your child’s lacrosse experience.
Included in the Annual Membership:
Gloves (boys)
Backpacks (girls)
Summer Travel (Tournaments)
Fall / Winter Travel (Tournaments)
Academies (4 sessions, approximately 16 total academy dates)

Looking at the forecast, I think we should stay with our practice on Sunday, 1/15 on E Washington field #3 from 2:00-4:00.
Saturday looks bad and Sunday seems wet but not so much.
Fortunately the forecast for our tournament indicates some sunshine.
We had a good practice Sunday. Plenty of touches and our boys looked very good.
Happy New Year! Our first practice is Sunday, Jan 8, 2:00-4:00 Field #3, E Washington. Forecast looks like we will a window of minimal weather at that time.
I am working on an additional practice for Saturday, Jan 14 in addition to our scheduled practice for Sunday, 1/15 @ E Washington.
I will send out a team email on that mid week.
We want to be best prepared for our King's Showcase tournament SF!!
Looking forward to getting together!
Laxcited,
Coach Ed
Good afternoon and Happy Friday! I'm getting lots of inquiries regarding practices this weekend. Looking at the weather forecast, wind and rain are supposed to settle down as the day wears on Sunday. We still have a bit to see what changes mother nature brings, but for now, I'm going to leave practices on the schedule and let the coaches determine whether or not they want to practice. Please reach out to me if you have any questions at all.
As we enter our schools' holiday break, I want to poll parents regarding the best time and date for a practice. Our next scheduled practices are Jan 8 and 15 prior to the The King Showcase in San Francisco. Panch and Chris are supportive of an additional practice. I would really like to have a practice during this school break with max participation. It would most likely be at Saint Vincent's HS; the time and date based on your input. Once I have a consensus, I will let you know.
Until then, enjoy yourselves.
Coach Ed
Well, first, we lucked out playing Sunday. Our boys played well yesterday. Considering that Sunday was their first time playing on a full field as a team. We can not play full field at our practices unless we have the numbers to do so. To that point, we need max participation at our future practices. If we need a different time, day or location to max out participation, I am all ears. My position at Saint Vincent's in Petaluma can give us some flexibilty w scheduling.
Now, back to our tournament. It was great for our boys increasing their Lax IQ, playing various positions, and learning from game situations.
We are a young team. As we continue to practice, grow, and play together, we will become more competitive and then, dominating.
Now for just a few highlights:
Scott revealed himself as another play maker on our team. WOW
Sawyer almost got a fantastic goal.
Finn played some awesome D middie
Parker was lights out between the pipes. He is a Keeper. I was impressed.
I hope to send individual notes out to players.
In closing, thank you to all the parents!! Your support of me as well as your boys is most appreciated. Never hesitate to contact me with your thoughts. I am old, I can take it.
Coach Ed
Ok, my last email before tournament. Our first games are at 0850 and 1120 both on field 2.
The Tourney Machine ap is up with schedule.
Looks like game times start at 0800. Hopefully we can get some warm ups before our game. So let's be geared up 30 minutes prior to game time.
I have been informed that your waiver is covered by your 101lax registration. So that's that.
However, one more piece of info. How about our team be suited up and ready to practice/play 30 minutes before our first tournament game.
Hopefully parking will not be an issue.
Coach Ed
Looking forward to practice Sunday, 11/20 on my home turf at Saint Vincent HS in Petaluma 2:00-4:00.
I asked Chris and Panch if I could add a practice b4 our tournament. They said Go For It!!
I would like to conduct practices on Saturday and Sunday the 1st weekend of Dec before our tournament the following weekend. If there is an interest for that Saturday practice, I will schedule. Let me know.
Happy Thanksgiving.

5 months agoAll losses but valuable individual as well as team lessons.
Imo our first game today was a Win in my mind of coaching. Our goals were well-worked: passes to open players with feeds to shooters. Our opponents gave the ball to six-footers to barrel into our goal. It worked; but, that is not how lacrosse is played successfully at the JV, HS and College level.
I really appreciate coaching your sons. Thank you.
Coach Ed
I will try and send to each of you individual comments .
