Ladies Descend on Fall Classic
Petaluma, CA - The ladies of 101 descended on Danville, CA to compete in the Fall Classic. Our 101 Sonoma 2024 team started off 2-0 on Saturday and was able to advance to the Sunday championship game taking home second place in the Fall Classic. Meanwhile our HS Gold team started off 2-0 and scored fourth place in the Fall Classic.
On Saturday our 2024 team arrived early for their first game against NorCal Rize. Everyone was able to get their feet underneath them as the team rode their way to a 10-4 dominating victory. After a break, the team retook the field and were able to once again reach double digits with improved chemistry earning an 11-3 victory over StickWithIt!
On Sunday the weather took a turn for the worst and everyone was faced with relentless winds, but our team was up to the test. Despite the challenging conditions the young ladies found a way to communicate and propel themselves to the championship game. The girls fought, pushing themselves to new limits but were unable to come away victorious. A second place finish on the weekend was excellent. "We are proud of the way the girls battled and are excited for our upcoming tournaments" said Coach Allie Level. "All the girls received an award paired with fun socks, and established a theme song we "vibe" before each game. Overall it was a great weekend and cannot wait for the rest of the season."
Meanwhile our HS Gold team faced many challenges including losing multiple players whose families had to go home to take care of dealing with the Kincade Fire. The team battled through adversity and were able to win two games on Saturday to advance to the championship bracket. Despite being down a few players on top of dealing with the difficult weather, the team battled in both games coming up short to finish in 4th place. A great effort from the team given the extenuating circumstances. "The team battled through adversity and competed like champions" said Coach Bob Merwin. "We cannot wait to get back to practice and keep competing with these young ladies!"
Both teams will resume practice on Sunday November 3.
