HS Black & Gold Snag Championships At Gold Rush

Elk Grove, CA - The HS Black and Gold teams both snagged championships at the 2nd annual Gold Rush event in Elk Grove, CA.

HS Black had a convincing win to start the day, the team suffered a loss despite winning all the draws in the second game against Tenacity Sacramento.  After starting slow and spotting a 4-1 lead to 4Core at halftime, the team battled back and won the game 8-4 to setup a rematch with Tenacity Sacramento in the final.  The final was a heated contest with HS Black leading from wire to wire.  Late in the third the team was up 7-4, but Tenacity wouldn't give up and closed the gap to 7-6 but was unable to get the tying goal.

HS Gold finished pool play 2-0 and faced their cross town rival Petaluma Rivercats in the championship.  The two teams played a couple of months ago with the HS Gold coming away 9-3 victors.  However, this time around the Rivercats were ready and a back forth game left the final at 9-7 in favor of 101.

Great day of competition despite cooler temps and challenging fog.
