Petaluma, CA - This past weekend the 101 High School Black team was able to bring the trophy up north all the way from San Diego with a convincing 14-4 win over local rival Verve Mint in the championship game. The team had an amazing tournament by scoring 14+ goals in each one of their games en route to the cup.

Black started off Saturday with an early 8:50AM game but were able to wake up to a nice 15-4 victory over the Diamond Cut Crew.  They  dominated the game start to finish being lead at the draw circle by Lauren Picardi ('21), Liz Manka ('21), and Emma Clark ('20). Then at 10:30AM they moved on to take down a Vortex Elite team 14-5.  Many of the younger players made big contributions in this game.  Next at 12:10 PM which would end up being a preview of the tournament championship game, the 101 girls beat Verve 15-7.

Sunday morning the girls began their championship run by winning what amounted to be a play-in game against a tough Fire Lacrosse Team.  Manka ('21) & Picardi ('21) scored a hat tricks early in the game They were able to pull away with a 14-5 victory and punch their ticket to the championship game.

In the final, the team started slow with Verve Mint scoring first and taking a 1-0 lead and then the game being tied at 2-2.  However, the team took control from their winning draws, groundballs, and scoring on many possession.  In the cage, goalies Pascale De Buren ('21) and Annike McCarthy-Belash ('20) held down the fort with big saves at critical junctures.  A highlight of the weekend was that every non-goalie or full-time defender scored a goal on the weekend.  A statement of team play and fortitude.  Congratulations ladies on the championship!
