14U Boys Are Champs At West Coast Showdown

by Panchito Ojeda

Petaluma, CA - The weather matched the play on the field, perfect!  The 14U Boys team started strong and finished with a 5-0 record and championship at the West Coast Showdown in Santa Cruz, CA.

Opening the weekend the team jumped out to two victories with 15-1win over Sacramento Aces and 15-0 win over the Bixby Ballers.  Then came a matchup with Bay Elite (also undefeated at the time).  A back and forth affair lead to Bay Elite tying things up late in the game before 101 came out on top to wrap the day 3-0 with the 9-8 win.

Despite no goalies and injury to the team's leading scorer, Sunday was more of the same as the 14U boys were on fire on offense scoring 16 and stingy on defense only allowing 1.  The last game featured a battle with Booth Lacrosse.  After some back and forth the team pulled away in the second half to finish with an 8-3 victory.

Wow what a great weekend of Lacrosse in Santa Cruz for 101 Lacrosse. I had the pleasure of coaching a wonderful group of 7th and 8th graders. Many future stars of Sonoma County. We went 5-0 and brought home the Championship. These boys played so good. We scored 61 goals and only let in 16! One of the best weekend coaching experiences I’ve ever had with these kids and our coaching staff! Summer season ended the best way possible.  -Coach Tory Hotaling

The 14U boys will wrap-up this weekend with some team members going up to Bend, OR for the Oregon Lacrosse Classic.  Congratulations fellas on an incredible weekend!
